Advancement Day (Nov 19) is a Saturday event that allows our boys to get some very concentrated efforts poured into a merit badge. Scouts can register for up to 2 classes (3 hours a piece), parents should plan to stay at the event as room monitors for the full time their scout is attending. Class signup sheets as well as payment must be received by 11/7/11. Please see the packet HERE for locations and class offerings. Please contact Lisa Baker or Sheryl Rardin for rank, attendance requirements and class costs.

Veterans Day is coming up on Friday, 11 Nov 2011. We have the opportunity to be of service to our community and experience a wonderful ceremony honoring our veterans of all ages at the National Military Cemetery. The Texas National Cemetery Foundation’s program is on Friday, 11 Nov, at 3:00 PM. The Cemetery Foundation is very appreciative of our Scouts’ help. We will assist in marking the reserved seating area, acting as Ushers, handing out the Ceremony Programs, and distributing bottled water as required.
The Ceremony and our service provide an excellent opportunity for our Scouts to learn about and honor our servicemen and women who have served and sacrificed for our Country. The experience is one that they will long remember. Our assistance is invaluable to the program as we provide a needed community service to the Foundation. The Ceremony takes place at the DFW National Military Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, 75211. It takes about 45 minutes to drive there from Carrollton. For Veterans Day service, we need about 8 to 10 Scouts to participate to cover all the walkway entrances to the ceremony area and to distribute bottled water. Please let Mr. Roop know if you can attend. The Troop meeting scheduled for 10/31/11 (Halloween) has been cancelled so everyone can join in their own festivities. We'll see you at the next meeting on Monday, November 7th.
Webelos Woods is 4/16. We will only be going for Saturday and NOT staying overnight.
There is also Den Chief training that will be occurring at Webelos Woods on Saturday 4/16 as well. Watch for more details. More Den Chief Training Information available at http://www.northdistrict.org/event.asp?id=958 Due to the popularity of canoeing in Spring, we need to make canoe reservations for the Broken Bow Canoe trip. There was an error on Monday's flyer -- there will only be canoes, NO Kayaks. We are trying to rent the canoes from Camp Wisdom for $15 per canoe, which includes 2 paddles and 2 life vests. There will be 2 scouts per canoe. Please email Belinda Coleman so that we can reserve the canoes while they are still available. We would like to make the reservations with Circle 10 Council by Monday.
******FOR ALL SCOUTS/PARENTS GOING TO NORTHERN TIER: This trip will be a trial run in preparation for Northern Tier. Please try to attend.***** Scouts from Troop 121 led the pledge of allegiance for the City of Carrollton's meeting on March 22. Thanks to Jared C., Cody C., and Matthew H. for doing such a great job representing our troop and community!
You can see video of the meeting here. Austin B., Leo A., and Channing A. will lead the pledge of allegiance for the City of Carrollton's April 5th meeting. March 14-16 (if needed)
Ty L. is building a small bridge behind CCA for the Track Team for his Eagle Project. Work will be starting at starting at 10:00am each day, and scouts should bring water, boots, and gloves. Please contact Ty if you will be participating. We anticipate that the date for the April campout to Fort Hood may change.
It is currently scheduled for 4/8-4/10, but may need to be moved to 4/29-5/1. We are still working on this and will provide updated information as it becomes available. |
